About Rod
Rod Cross has spent his entire career presenting his
client's cases in court, and arguing to get the best result for them.
A successful outcome in court often depends on careful preparation and
planning, which Rod excels at.
Initially Rod practiced both criminal law and family law from 1981,
when Rod was called to the Ontario Bar, to 1997, when Rod let go criminal
law, and continued just with family law. Family law had evolved and
developed and Rod concluded that a lawyer should really only be involved
with one area of law, in order to keep abreast with changes and developments.
He continues to practice only family law.
Rod also taught at Carleton University in Ottawa, as a Sessional Lecturer,
for four years in the evening. Rod was well-known and garnered good
reviews in the Annual Review. He taught Legal Institutions, Family Law
and Tort Law. Rod also taught for one semester at Algonquin College.
He has appeared on local television, providing commentary on legal issues,
and wrote and prepared for use at Carleton publications in the Law department.
Rod is very much involved in Continuing Legal Education and updates
his database of case precedents weekly. You will greatly benefit by
the production of Research Memorandums outlining past cases, to be used
as a guide in your own case.
Rod's hobbies include flying, and he is a long standing member and currently President of the
Ottawa Flying Club. He holds a Private Pilot's Licence, with an up-to-date
Instrument Rating, and regularly flies a Cessna over Ottawa, as he is here!
